if you’ve been around long enough, you know ballet was a big part of my life, and The Nutcracker especially! so it’s ironic i never considered it for my lemons until 2022 when @pegl0 inspired me to - and those versions were fast and loose bc i was technically resting. so i figured, it’s been three years, let’s do it again ~

this is probably following the Balanchine (which is inspired by the Vsevolozhsky/Petipa adaptation) version but i also really enjoy and grew up with the Stowell/Sendak iteration created for the Pacific Northwest Ballet! sad the later has been retired. and i genuinely love the original story and the animated 1990 movie. i can talk forever about all of this lol! but you might get why i leaned into a storybook-esque illustration w this one!
